Critical Relationship-building at the State level FIEO,ER is an active member in the following committees: • State Level Export Promotion Committee of West Bengal(SLEPC) • Orissa, • Tripura and • Manipur • Joint Monitoring Cell of Kolkata Port Trust • Advisory Committee for implementation of Haldia Trade Centre.

  26. Revive the Nodal Registration Agency Status for North-Eastern States Export Awareness Workshops organized in 5 North-Eastern States Under EDF Scheme of Govt. Of India • Funds Allotted Per Export Awareness Event: • 80% of The Total Expenses • Maximum Rs.3,20,000/- • Average no's of Participants Per Events : 80 No's Organized Yet to be organized

Export Awareness Workshops in North-East-recommendations thereof • FOCUS ON DEVELOPING TRADE WITH SOUTH ASIA AND SOUTH EAST ASIA BY SENDING MORE TRADE MISSIONS TO THESE COUNTRIES. • POTENTIAL INDUSTRIES : HOSPITALITY, TOURISM AND MINES AND MINERAL • OPERATIONALISE LCS AT SABROOM-RAMGARH AND OTHERS • BUILDING INFRASTRACTURE AT ALL LCS • EXCHANGE RATE BETWEEN MYANMARESE KYAT AND INDIAN RUPEE SHOULD BE MORE REALISTIC • TRY TO OPEN BORDER TRADE WITH BHUTAN AS WELL AS IDENTIFY FEASIBLE LOCATIONS FOR OPENING BORDER TRADE WITH CHINA • PROPOSE A SEAPARATE FOREIGN POLICY FOR NORTH EAST STATES AND ALSO HAVE IT AS A SPECIAL ZONE

  29. Alternative Revenue Sources • Revived EDP course at Orissa • Revived EDP Course at Kolkata Office • Negotiation is on with Commercial Tax Department of Govt. of West Bengal for setting up a service cell in FIEO office

Revival of Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) EDP on International Trade in Eastern region had been discontinued from July, 2007, resulting in a financial loss of income up to the tune of Rs 2.00 lakhs per annum The same has been revived in Kolkata and Bhubaneswar The highlight of both the courses is the field-visit to Port, DGFT & Customs offices where a hands-on exercise is carried out under the guidance of their officials Total income earned from EDP in Eastern Region during the period April 2009-September 2010 has been Rs 7,39,607.00

  32. For the Year Ahead……. • Revive the Nodal Registration agency status for North-Eastern States • Increase events at new /less visited places • Relationship-building with various Govt. Agencies at State level • Increase participation in International Events • Create awareness amongst Members about New Services launched by FIEO. • Invite non-members to FIEO events and familiarise them with FIEO’s services • Increase Sponsorship for FIEO’s Events • Increase alternative revenues (other than Membership Revenue)
