  3. Ask Mister N. Quiry When carrying out an historical enquiry you will need to use historical sources to find relevant information that will help give you answers. What’s inside this book? What do I learn from the portrait?

  4. Ask Mister N. Quiry This means that you will need to analyse historical sources What can I learn from this source?

  5. Ask Mister N. Quiry When analysing historical sources historians will ask a number of questions. The same types of questions can be asked of any sources that historians or you have to deal with.

  6. Ask Mister N. Quiry There are four main questions that you need to consider: What do you learn from the source? What would you want to know to help you understand the source? What are the strengths and weaknesses of the sources? How does the source help your enquiry?

  9. Ask Mister N. Quiry When thinking about questions you would want answered about the source remember to use the 5 Ws: WHO? WHEN? WHY? WHAT? WHERE?
