Family is a social institution that has remained over the years, with very specific patterns of interaction that are modified depending on its internal needs (stage of life cycle) and external demands (socials, politics and economics). (García-Méndez, Rivera-Aragón, Díaz-Loving, & Reyes-Lagunes, 2015)

Familyfunctioning Family functioning is the set of relationships patterns that occurs between the family members throughout their life cycle, patterns that they play through established roles and with the influence of the social environments in which they develop. (García-Méndez, Rivera-Aragón, Reyes-Lagunes & Díaz-Loving, 2006)
