This study examines selection bias & treatment contamination in employment programs for reentering individuals in New York State. It analyzes the impact of various factors on post-release employment outcomes and recidivism rates. The research aims to determine the effectiveness of these programs and identify strategies to reduce recidivism. The evaluation of the Serious and Violent Offender Reentry Initiative (SVORI) is a key focus, targeting adult male prisoners under 35 convicted of serious offenses. The study employs trajectory modeling and logistic regression to understand the relationship between program participation and criminal outcomes. Findings suggest the need for targeted interventions and improved program design to enhance reentry success and decrease recidivism rates.
