  1. Making tables with Bibexcel for Excel

  2. You have made an out-file from the doc-file based on the AU-field using “Any ; separated field” and the Prep-button

  3. If you put another tag in here and click on this button Data is added to the out-file and the jn1-file is made with dt (doc-type) in 3rd column

  4. Creates the jn2-file with publication year in 4th column Adding another field, py=publication year

  5. Fractionalizing:If you selected the jn2-file and used these settings and pressed Start …an oux-file was created with fractions to the far right

  6. How to handle multiple units in an added field Assume that you have added the subject category field (SC) to the outfile. Select the jn1-file and run Edit outfiles/Decompress - extra

  7. ..and then the nnx-file has made one row for each SC-category. For example doc nr 2 has two categories …of course in the next step you can fractionalize if you wish

  8. You can open the jn2-file from within Excel, insert a row and put labels on top, and then insert a Pivot-table with authors on rows and publication years in columns, and sort descending on total. Here, you can see that Small H started the whole field of co-citation studies, and that White HD entered in 1981 and then McCain KW in 1983….
