  2. How do I become a part of the sports medicine program?

  3. Step 1. • Enroll in Sports Medicine 1 in the fall semester. • This class is a prerequisite for the program • You will cover a variety of topics related to sports medicine • It is recommended that you take this class as a freshman if you are interested

  4. Step 2. • Apply for the Athletic Training Program. • You will be observed throughout your time in the class • Upon application your behavior, grades, attendance, interview, and class participation will be taken into account • At the end of the semester a program application will be handed out to all those interested in joining the program • During the application process you are required to write an essay, gather three references, and sit for an interview with staff athletic trainers • After all interviews are conducted, selections will be made • If you are selected to join the program, you will enrolled in sports medicine II

Step 3. • Sports Medicine II • If you are enrolled in Sports Medicine II, you are in the program • This class will offer more in depth information into sports medicine • There is more of a hands on approach to this class • You will cover CPR, sports injuries, injury treatments, first aid, game coverage, practice coverage, and many other related topics

  6. Step 4. • Have fun and learn • We want students that will continue in our program for the duration of their high school experience • The athletic training program is a very cooperative and team orientated environment
