Key Dates • Registration opens Tuesday 6th May 2014 • Registration closes Friday 12th September 2014 Test Dates • Paper One 10am on Saturday 8th November 2014 • Paper Two 10am on Saturday 22nd November 2014 • Paper Three 10am on Saturday 29th November 2014 Results • Results issued to parents Saturday 31st January 2015 • Remark application closes Friday 13th February 2015

Filling in the Form • Follow the guidance notes carefully • Section A – Child’s details • Section B – Special Access Arrangements - tick yes if required and AQE will send you an Access Application Form • Section C – Parent/Guardian details- mobile number is important. • Section D – Preferred location • Section E – Payment £45 • Section F – Irish Language paper request • Section G- Declaration and 3 photographs You need to include a copy of your child’s birth certificate which will not be returned.

  4. Familiarisation Evening • Letter from school with room and seat number. • Seated in school groups in candidate number order – AQE regulations. • School uniform – recommended • Parking – plan ahead • Drop off in foyer. Parents to Dining Hall. • Prefects on Duty

Familiarisation Evening 23rd October 2014, 7.30pm • Plan ahead • Children will be shown to their desk • Teacher invigilators – Take register Check admission cards Hand out papers Read out instructions THERE IS NO TEST ON THE FAMILIARISATION EVENING! You will be given more information closer to the date.

  6. Familiarisation Evening Your child will need: • Admissions Card • Pencils • A rubber • Tissues • A coat There will be water and spare stationery in the rooms. • An exam front cover and ‘What If?’ sheet.

The Assessments • Aim to be at CHGS between 9am-9.20am • The tests must start at 10am sharp • Children will be shown to their desk • Teacher invigilators – Take register Check admission cards Hand out papers Read out instructions Starts the test • 11am – long bell. Parents will be told where to meet back with children. Please stay away from the front foyer and side entrance until the bell goes at 11am.

Photocopy/printed form is absolutely acceptable. • We are an examination centre in this instance. You are not selecting the school you want to go to in September 2015. • Schools are allocated on first come first serve basis.

Frequently Asked Questions • The CEA is based on three one-hour assessments which take account of the English and Maths components of the present primary school curriculum. • The result is taken from the best two scores, so only two assessments have to be sat. However, we strongly recommend that candidates take advantage of the option to sit all three papers, and over 99% do so. • Each paper has 58 questions counting for 64 marks. There are 32 marks for English and 32 marks for Maths.

  10. Frequently Asked Questions • Each paper is marked three times and there is a Quality Control Process which keeps a check on the system. In addition a further 20% of papers are marked again, and a further 20% totalled again. In the Office, all papers are totalled for a final time. • The results will arrive with you by post on Saturday 31st January 2015 • There is a remark process. Contact AQE – a fee is payable. • Education and Library Board will contact you at the end of May about which school your child has been accepted into.

Access Make sure you complete Section B in the application form. • Dyslexia • Dyspraxia • ADHD • ADD • Vocal Tics • Diabetes • Aspergers Syndrome • Autism • Hearing Loss • Eyesight Problems • Various heart conditions • Spina Bifida • Cerebal Palsy • Muscular Dystrophy • Dyscalculia • Epilepsy (Not an exclusive list) Examples of the types of access arrangements can be found on the AQE website.

  12. Access • If you complete Section B, AQE will send you out a form to complete. • You should send any evidence that supports your claim. This can include, where appropriate: -Any medical evidence -Educational evidence from an educational psychologist (Key Stage 2) -Evidence from the primary school of the pupil’s normal way of working.

  13. Access • Most common extra assistance: • extra time to sit the assessments • larger size paper • the use of a bilingual dictionary Emergency Access: • E.g. A broken arm • Contact AQE immediately • Contact the examination centre immediately • Gather documents

Special Circumstances • Death of a family member • Sickness throughout the week or on the day • Contact AQE and the school • School will inform invigilators and make notes on seating plans and reports • An SC14 form will be available from September 2014 on AQE website (SC13 form is for illustration only) • Gather as much information as possible
