  • What does a philosopher do?
  • Tries to answer questions that will explain some of the great “mysteries of life.”
  • The Greek believed that everything happened because of the gods

  • Created the Socratic method of thinking
  • He thought that people learned best when they ask questions
  • He made people angry because he made people question their beliefs
  • He was arrested for questioning the power of the Greek gods (religion)
  • On trial he refused to apologize and was sentenced to death
  • He calmly accepted his punishment and drank poison.
