  1. PPM Initiatives Patrick Power 2008 PPM User Conference

  2. How did this come about Site Visits • PHS met with the majority of PPM users • Discussed client needs, issues and future direction • Comments ranged from satisfied users to users with suggestions to improve various processes • Some clients had trouble with resourcing patient costing/PPM • Some clients had no real appreciation for what their PPM resource did on a daily basis • From this feedback, PHS put together some initiatives to ensure that clients are deriving maximum benefit from their investment in PPM and the associated resources required to use PPM

  3. Annual State Based Training NHCDC • PHS will now tailor an annual training program around each state’s-based reporting requirements from PPM for the State and National cost data collections • 2-day class • $1,500 per participant or 2 days of extended support • This is in addition to • Free PPM classes in Adelaide • Free training offered at our annual PPM user conference.

  4. New Account Manager Position Account Manager • One client already signed up • Clients have requested the option to call the office to discuss their support issues • Not an option as it would make it very difficult for support staff to complete their work • Need to ensure that all correspondence is tracked so that issues can be escalated as required • PHS has created an account manager role • Part time role, manned 3 days per week • The account manager is the primary liaison between the client and our support team and will be responsible for following up on client concerns • Fee of $3600 annually plus GST.

  5. New Costing Service Costing Service • One client already signed up • Some clients use PPM annually in order to meet their mandatory reporting requirements • While some clients perform this task well, it can be very difficult for many to develop the in-house skills and processes required to build up robust patient costing and revenue data when the function is an annual one • PHS is offering a service whereby a client can trade in their PPM license and in return for their current support fees (based on the extended support $) PHS will provide an annual costing service • Provide the information back to the client in an SQL database, complete with our reporting layer and all its associated tables and standard views.

  6. Accreditation Program • Online PPM accreditation program • Provide managers with a better appreciation of their staff’s technical abilities vis-a-vis PPM as well as their patient costing skills • PHS realise that whilst we offer a plethora of client training options, this is of little value to a departmental manager who is not in tune with their staff’s training needs • 5% discount on support fees to those clients whose staff have successfully completed the accreditation.

  7. Accreditation Program … • Training program modules: • General costing knowledge • PPM GL allocation • PPM patient cost allocation • PPM ETVL and linking • PPM revenue and rules engine • PPM reporting and reporting layer structures • Cost per module is $750, which allows for a maximum of 2 staff from the same organisation to be evaluated.
