  4. Making a Connection Easter Weekend is next weekend. Passover this year is April 14-22. Jesus’ resurrection is timeless news that is always relevant. The resurrection is more than history it is current events! He Died, We Die, He Lives, We Live.

  5. 1 Peter: Living Against the Grain. Peter is writing to Gentiles in several provinces who live a distance from Jerusalem. Believing in the resurrection of Jesus from the dead has put them against the grain of culture and government. They are isolated, they are new in the faith, they are under attack by their culture and Nero, and need encouragement.

  6. 1 Peter Chapter 2 Pg 1888 Verses 1-3 A Call to Grow. Verses 4-12 New Names for a New Calling. Verses 13-20 Learning to Submit. Verses 21-25 Our Text Today!

  7. 1 Peter 2:21-25 Page 1889 21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. 22“He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.” (Isaiah 53:9)23When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly.

  8. 1 Peter 2:21-25 Page 1889 24He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, Why? …so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; How are we made right with God? …by his wounds you have been healed. This is old news that impacts today!

  9. 1 Peter 2:25 25For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. God wants us to turn back to him and He has provided the way through Jesus, so we celebrate. He Died, We Die, He Lives, We Live.

  10. Thinking it Through: Do you see the news of the resurrection as old news or current events? How does your lifestyle confirm your answer? What is the best part of the good news for you? What is the hardest part of the “bad news” for you?

  11. The Empty Tomb Jesus’ resurrection makes a resurrection for us possible as well. Next Week: Death Precedes Resurrection 1 Peter 3:15-22. We are here to celebrate Jesus life, death, and resurrection each week as we consider our own death to self and new life in Jesus as a current event. We invite you to join us on the journey.
