  2. Things That Are Unbalanced • A car with wheels out of balance = rough ride. • An unbalanced diet = poor health. • An unbalanced checkbook = financial trouble. • An unbalance of power = world chaos. • An unbalance in nature = unsafe environment.

  3. Balance • Balance - equilibrium, stability, harmonious proportion, equal. • Harmonious proportion in life is essential to positive, successful Christian living. • Balance defined by a teenager is “getting it all together”.

  4. Six Major Areas Of Life • Spiritual • Family • Social • Vocational or Job • Recreation • Financial

  5. Spiritual • Are we interested in spiritual growth? Hebrews 5:12-14. • “The fullness of Christ”- Ephesians 4:11-16 • Do we strive to have the mind of Christ? Philippians 2:5-8. • We must renew our minds (II Corinthians 4:16; Ephesians 4:23).

  6. The Mind • A man can change his life by changing his way of thinking. • The human brain can record 800 memories each second. This can continue for the space of 70 to 80 years without getting tired. • If scientist were to build an electronic computer that matched the nerve connection of the human brain, they would need a skyscraper to house it, the power of Niagra Falls to run it, the water of Niagra Falls to cool it. Yet, God compressed it all into the small space of a cranium.” • Psalm 139:14 - “ I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and my soul knoweth well.”

  7. Spiritual Life • Psalms 1:2 • II Timothy 2:15 • I Timothy 4:13 • Psalm 122:1- Are we glad? • What are we doing in the “house of God”? Ezekiel 8:1-18. • Do we give thanks to the Lord? Psalm 124:1-8 • Lamentations 3:22-23 • James 1:19-22

  8. Troubled In Mind • Genesis 6:5 • Genesis 8:21 • Man is in trouble because of the thoughts which have ruled his life. • Jeremiah 3:17, 9:14, 13:10. • Proverbs 6:16-18 • You can only get out what you put in. The law of sowing and reaping (Galatians 6:7,8). • Proverbs 23:7

  9. Family • Ephesians 5:22-23 • Responsibility of the father (Proverbs 22:6; 23:13-15). • Deuteronomy 6:6-9 • Joshua 24:14-15 • Neglect of home is rampant in today’s society as is evidenced by the divorce rate and other problems. • We must plan time for our families!!!!!!!!

  10. Social Life • Jesus was sociable - Luke 2:52. • Be given to hospitality - Romans 12:13. • The first century church - Acts 2:46. • Proverbs 18:24 - “A man that hath friends must show himself friendly”

  11. Vocational or Job Area • The order of God- Genesis 3: 17-19. • Make sure you get your money honestly – Proverbs 13:11. • The importance of working - II Thessalonians 3: 6-12. • Proverbs 19:15 - “Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.” • Ecclesiastes 11: 4-6 • Genesis 26: 12-16 • Proverbs 19:24 - “A slothful man hideth his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.” • I Cor. 4:12 • Ephesians 4:28 • Acts 20:33-35

  12. Recreation • III John 2 • Must have rest and relaxation (Mark 6:31). • I Kings 19: 4-8 • Take care of your body (I Cor. 6:19). • I Timothy 4:8 - “little” (for a little time). Exercise does profit.

  13. Financial • I Corinthians 4:2 • Matthew 6:19-21 • Deuteronomy 8:18 - God gives us power to get wealth. • Wise investing (Ecclesiastes 11:1-2) • Proverbs 11:14
