  2. The Early Years… • Annie Macy Sullivan was born on April 14th 1866,in Feeding Hills Massachusetts. • In Annie’s early year activities/hobbies she liked reading and writing. • An interesting fact about Annie was she was Helen Keller’s teacher and she lived in an orphanage half her life.

  3. Annie Sullivan is Famous because… • She was Helen Keller’s teacher. • Annie thought herself to teach the blind and deaf.

Annie thought Helen to read and write. • She thought Helen her manners. • She thought Helen Braille. • Annie and Helen were awarded Honorary Friendship from the Educational Institute of Scotland • They were also awarded Honorary Degrees from Temple University. • She died in Forest Hills Massachusetts N.Y. October 20th 1936. The Later Years…

Annie could barely see herself as a child. • Important visitors came to the poor house were Annie lived • And Annie told them she wanted to go to SCHOOL! • A man said that he would help her with her DREAM! • and before she knew it she was accepted to Perkins Institution • school in Boston (PIB). • (PIB) was a school for the Blind • Annie learned Braille, Braille is like an alphabet for the Blind • Braille is raised dots that the blind feel.
