  1. What exactly happens on the D-Day – Writing? The writing section of TOEFL is part of the four sections that are inside the TOEFL test. The section consists of 30 points out of the total 120 like all the other 3.The writing section measures the understanding and listening capabilities of a candidate and, as such, it requires a candidate to put to paper the ideas that are presented to them in the material they are given. The main aim is to make sure that candidates are able to come up with well-structured essays that clearly highlight the important points and also to assess the candidate's ability to draw conclusions that are clearly articulated. The writing section is divided into two parts namely; the integrated writing skills part and the independent writing skills part. These are divided into two tasks to teach each task with an individual essay :- The integrated writing skills task :- In this task, a candidate is required to write an essay based on the information given to the candidate. The candidate is provided with a passage that is between 200 and 220 words long. The candidate is given 3 minutes to read the text. The candidate is also given an audio record that they have to listen to. During the reading and listening section, the candidate is allowed to jot down notes that they will use in their essay after reading and listening to the information. The test then requires candidates to come up with an essay. The essay is a factual representation of the facts relayed to the candidate by both the audio and the written passage. The essay should demonstrate the candidate's ability to properly structure an essay and their ability to ensure that the points are in a fluid order that makes them comprehensible. The essay should be between 150 and 200 words long and should be written within a period not exceeding 20 minutes The main thrust of the task is to enable the student to write only what they heard and read. It is important to make sure that you do not include information that was not included in the passage. The independent writing skill task:- This section requires the candidate to write an essay based on a prompt provided by the examiner. Candidates are supposed to write an essay supporting or disagreeing with the given prompt. This task aims to measure the candidate's ability to express an independent thought. The candidate has to first understand the prompt and then use personal experience to write a comprehensive essay detailing why they either support or disagree with the ideas expressed in the prompt. The issues expressed in the prompts are often issues of public interest and, usually, the issues have to relate to most of the candidates in order for them to use their knowledge and experience in order to answer the task. The essays should not exceed 300 words, the limit enables the essay to be straightforward and concise. The task should be written in 30 minutes. The time frame required to write both essays is relatively very small and candidates should make sure they manage their time wisely. Practice can enable the candidate to manage their time efficiently and enable them to finish their essays and also have time to check for errors.
