  1. How ID Card Printer Works & Why Do I need Ribbons for It?

  2. How does it work? • ID Card Printer has a heater printhead over a ribbon that transfers all the colour and symbols on the card to make print your design. Various kinds of Printers provide advanced Printing option with that you can print almost any design. • There are mainly two types of printing methods are available, first is Dye sublimation and second is Reverse transfer printing. Both come with a printhead, plain card, and Ribbon.

  3. Direct To Card Printing • With dye sublimation printing (which is also known as direct to card printing), the printhead applies a directly ribbon on the Blank card. This method is known for speeds, perfect for organizations like event and exhibitions that needs to quickly and reliable ID cards.

  4. Reverse Transfer Method • In the reverse transfer method, your design is first pasted to a clear transfer film, then the film is applied on the Blank card. In this method, the transfer film is slightly larger than a card and will wrap completely around the face of the card that’s why it’s also known as over the edge. • Because the printhead doesn’t touch the card, it’s just the film, reverse transfer printers are recommended for uneven surfaces Card Print such as technology cards.

Different Types of Printer Ribbons • Single-Color Monochrome: this ribbon comes in different colours and can print single-colour images and text. • YMCK: Full, four-colour ribbon with a Black section. This ribbon does not have a transparent overlay panel, so it can be used with reverse transfer ribbons or laminating printers. • YMCKO: Four-color plus overlay. YMCKO ribbon is the most popular ribbon type because of its versatility. This ribbon includes a transparent coating overlay that provides extra protection to your card from wear and tear.
