The Parts of the Process • Find a FOSA (min. 4 meetings) • Secure a mentor (min. 2 meetings, contract required) • Use the writing lab (min. 4 meetings) • Have your parents sign the Parent/Student contract • Do your research • Perform your methodology • Write your paper • Take a minimum of two weeks to edit and format • Defend your thesis • Have a party • Write your thank you note
Grading and Submission Policy • Thesis grades count for 20% of your quarterly grades • Other than contracts, assignments are submitted via Turnitin.com by 11:59 p.m. on due date • BioMed/Psychology have their own Turnitin classes • Unexcused late submissions: • <24 hours late: maximum grade of 90% • <72 hours late: maximum grade of 70% • Plagiarizing: receive a 0 and referred to administration • Extensions: request at least 72 hours prior to deadline. Must request a specific amount of time for the extension. Only granted for special circumstances. • Final Thesis graded by your Thesis team (Q4)

The 7 Mandatory Sections of the Thesis • Preliminary Pages • Ch 1: Introduction • Ch 2: ROL • Ch 3: Methodology • Ch 4: Discussion • Ch 5: Conclusion • References/Works Cited • Bonus Section 8: Appendices (but only if you have them)
But What Does This Really Look Like? • During the fall: researching, formalizing your thesis statement, outlining and starting to write • By Thanksgiving: methodology, methodology, methodology • By Christmas: synthesizing your research with your argument • By February: stop collecting data. You are now the expert! • By March: formatting and finalizing
