  1. TIMBERWOODPANTHER TRACK • WELCOME TO THE PANTHER 2012 TRACK SEASON • COACH ZILEMBO 8TH GRADE • COACH DORNAK 7TH GRADE

  2. HUMBLE ATHLETIC POLICIES • Each athlete have received a copy of the athletic policies. Please review them carefully. The main objective of the district is to provide competition between individuals and /or schools. It is to teach fair play, sportsmanship, the understanding and appreciation of teamwork, the teaching of discipline and that to quit means failure and hard work means eventual success.

  3. HOW WILL WE DO THIS ? • Keep as many pupils as possible in a good environment. • Instill good habits, sound morals, exemplary citizenship, an a high standard of sportsmanship in the pupils of HISD. • Encourage students to grow morally, socially, mentally, and physically.

  4. TRY-OUTS • Depending upon field events: All athletes that try out are considered part of the team. However, they are not guaranteed to participate in a meet. • Example: 8 throwers practice but only 3 can go to the meet. • See individual coach for more details.

  5. 7TH Grade Morning Practice Schedule • Field Events Arrive for Practice @6:45 a.m. including Hurdles. • Practice begins @ 7:00 a.m. • BREAKFAST @ 8:15a.m.. -8:30 a.m. • If you are only doing running events come @ regular school time.

  6. 8TH GRADETRACK PRACTICES • All running events are held during the class period. • Field events and hurdles are held after school until 5:00 p.m.

  7. No Practice = No Meet • Athletes are expected to practice EVERY DAY! • Athletes are expected to dress in TMS Athletics outfits. • Those athletes who consistently miss practice will not be taken to track meets. • More than one absence per week will keep an athlete home from a meet. If you have questions, ask your head coach about this policy!

  8. TUTORIALS • The athlete will not be penalized for going to tutorials; however, tutorials are for the student to receive extra help on items not understood. Including homework. Tutorials are not to be abused and used to get out of practice. • The athlete must have a tutoring pass from the Coach.

  9. OTHER SCHOOL EVENTS/ACTIVITIES • The sponsors of any other school event/activity, that conflicts with practice or a track meet, will contact the coaches. • Athletes it is your responsibility to communicate this with the coach, in advance.

  10. All injuries must be reported as soon as they occur, practice or meet. Documentation must be provided by the trainer or doctor that you take your athlete to. If the doctor or trainer sit the athlete out then the doctor or trainer must release the athlete. If your athlete is injured in a sport or activity outside of their school sport, they must be seen by their personal physician. INJURIES

  12. TRAINERS • All athletes can use any trainer in the district. • Atascocita High School(281-641-7655) • Kingwood High School • Humble High School • Kingwood Park High School • Summer Creek High School

  13. EMERGENCY CARDS(RED CARDS) • This is not part of the travel release. The names that are provided on the card are for the purpose of contacting in the event that the biological parent (s) can not be contacted. • For example: if your athlete has to be transported to the hospital and we can't contact you then we would use the red card for a designated contact person.

  14. AWAY RELEASE & SIGN OUT • ONLY the biological parent (s)/ legal guardian, whose name must be on file in the office. • NO Siblings, Friends of the family, grandparents, boy/girlfriend of a parent • No athlete will have permission to leave until after they complete all events • All athletes must check out with the Coach of their event and the sign-out coach • Once checked out the athlete must leave the site • PLEASE ASK IF YOU ARE NOT SURE

  15. RETURN TO SCHOOL AFTER THE MEET • All students who are not checked out at the meet, by their parents, will return to TMS and the parents can designate who will pick their athlete up from TMS. • Please pick the athletes up promptly.

  16. Custodial Guardian • Please contact Patti Dear, the registrar, at 281-641-3821 if you have an emergency situation and your athlete must be left in the care of a custodial guardian. Ex. Both parents being deployed for military reasons and you have left a grandparent in care of your child . • Going out of town does not constitute this type of emergency. Your student will be brought back to the school and can be picked up by your designated person.

  17. OUTSIDE SPORTS • Please remember that our school competition is top priority, during the season. Although we encourage and welcome outside competition, please know that you are a part of the TMS team and you have an obligation and responsibility to your teammates and coaches.

  18. UNIVERSITY INTERSCHOLASTIC LEAGUE(U.I.L) • Governing body for all high school sports in the state of Texas. • Track is a U.I.L sport • NO PASS NO RUN (eligibility is still in affect) • Please contact your Coach if there is another school activity that might interfere with track meets or practice.

  19. EQUIPMENT: Clothes • Sweats will be issued only if an athlete is selected to compete in a meet. They will be allowed to keep them for the season as long as they are part of the team. • Silks and bags will be issued in a similar fashion. • If an athlete does not bring their equipment on meet days they will not be allowed to compete. Extras will not be issued

  20. EQUIPMENT: Clothes • If you want your own sweats the athletes are allowed to purchase and wear them during practice. At meet school issued apparel should be worn.

  21. EQUIPMENT: Cleats & Shoes • We encourage athletes to purchase cleats if needed. We have a very limited supply. They will only be given out if needed. • Throwers do not have to have throwing shoes. We do not have any to provide. If you want them then you will have to purchase them, but it is recommended you just use your shoes with laces that are secure.

  22. EQUIPMENT • UIL states that it is ILLEGAL to wear school issued apparel except at school sponsored activities. (i.e. meets & practice) • Examples Not Allowed: Wearing during school day, out with friends, or at the mall. • If seen by school official or coach the equipment will be taken & not returned.

  23. EQUIPMENT • Any equipment left out or unsecured will be taken up & consequences will follow. • Any lost or stolen equipment will be paid for by the athlete at the end of the season.

  24. PAYMENT AT EACH SITE • Parents you must pay to enter the stadium at each meet ,even if you are coming in to check out your athlete. • This is a district rule and will be enforced at all sites. • Please have arrangements made with your athlete.
