Day, Night and Seasons A Scientific presentation by Nikki and Emily xxx
Why do we have day and night? • We have day and night because the earth spins on its axis. That is why when it is our day it’s Australia's night! It takes the Earth 24 hours to spin on it’s axis! That is why the are 11 hours infront!
How might day or night vary on other planets? • Day and night might vary on other planets because it might not take them 24 hours to spin on it’s axis. Every planet has an axis.
Why do we have Seasons? • We have seasons because it takes a whole year for the Earth to go around the Sun. • That means that the Earth is tilted on a 23.5 degree. • When the northern hemisphere is facing towards the Sun it is our summer. • But when the Southern Hemisphere is facing towards the Sun it is Australia's summer. • When it’s Australia’s Summer it is our Winter!
How does the motion of the Sun in the sky change within Seasons? • The Sun does not move. It seems to move across the sky starting in the east in the morning, moving toward the south at noon, and then toward the west as the day ends. • It is the Earth turning that makes it seem as though the Sun is moving.
