  1. I just got back from a one week holiday traveling up the East coast of Australia in a campervan. I visited Byron, Brisbane, Fraser Island, Rainbow Beach and dropped off the vehicle in Airlie Beach. The East coast is an amazing part of the world so if you are thinking of doing this road trip, don’t rush it! Here are my top tips with renting a campervan:

  2. Tip 1: There are loads or rental companies to pick from, so use a service like https://www.CampervanFinder.com.au to compare prices from all the major rental suppliers and then negotiate a price with the sales person. This saves you the time and hassle of calling or visiting 20 different suppliers websites to get quotes.

  3. Tip 2: Decide if you want a campervan or motorhome. The main difference is that motorhomes usually come with a toilet and shower. Motorhomes usually cost double the price so if you are on a budget go for something like a low top campervan or a station wagon.

  4. Tip 3: Stay at campsites wherever possible. Yes, you can stay by the beach with an amazing view but you will soon be missing toilets, hot showers and cooking facilities. And although it rarely happens, you can be fined for parking and sleeping in the streets.

  5. Tip 4: Don’t forget your accessories from home. Bring your USB cigarette charger for your phone and bring a cable to plug your phone into to the stereo system. If you’re listening to the radio you will find the channels dropping in and out all the time, this was definitely my life saver.

  6. Tip 5: Pay attention to the weather. When it rains you are left with few options to do and watch out for dangerous driving conditions. There’s nothing worst than being involved in an accident so slow down!
