  1. SWBAT identify the impact of advances in technology during the Renaissance.Calisthenics ( Write the questions and the answers): What was humanism and what do humanists value?

  2. How much science do you know? • What invention can we use to see the stars? • Does the sun revolve around the earth? • Why does a ball fall to the ground if you let go? • What is inside the human body?

  3. Influenced by humanism, scholars in the 1500s began to question classical scientific ideas and Christian beliefs.  The questioning of old theories became known as the Scientific Revolution. 

  4. From the 1500s through the 1700s, scientists developed new scientific theories and technologies. • The scientists used the ideas of logic, observation, and reason, which came from Ancient Greek philosophers. 

  5. Galileo • Galileo built the first telescope and studied the planets and moons.

  11. Leonardo Di Vinci: Scientist • Leonardo Da Vinci made discoveries in the field of anatomy, or study of the body. They are still used by doctors today.

  12. Leonardo Da Vinci: Artist • Da Vinci was also a great artist. He created the Mona Lisa, one of the most famous paintings in history.

  15. What should be on each slide? 1st slide: Introduction 2nd slide: Insert a picture of an invention or theory by one of the four inventors. 3rd slide: Write who was the inventor of that invention. 4th-9th slide: Repeat directions in slides 2-3 until all inventors have been used.

  18. Galileo • Galileo was an inventor during the Renaissance who created a telescope. He used the telescope to study the stars, moons, and planets. Example of Slide 3

  19. What should be on the slides? 10th slide: Write why someone might need a particular invention. 11th slide: Write which invention and inventor they should use. 12th-17th slides: Repeat directions in slides 2-3 until all inventors have been used.
