The HSSA JIF agenda – key features • Partnership: national & regional relationships - Health Sector Strategic Alliance / Regional Health Sector Strategic Alliance • 3-Year agreement for ‘matched funding’. Up to £10m per region from April 2008 • Delivery infrastructure, brokerage, communications • Commitment to the skills pledge • Flexibility: local relevance & ownership • Monitoring & evaluation • Med/long term sustainability

  3. East Midlands JIF developments • East Mids HSSA in place: Strategic Health Authority (SHA), Skills for Health (SfH) & LSC • JIF operational group in place • LSC internal operational group in place • Communications plan being developed • Data for demand for training for 07/08 & next 3 years obtained • Provider Reference Group set up

  4. Forecast training requirements Initial priorities All 5 local health communities have identified as a priority Skills for Life needs at Level 1 and 2 Plus Health & Social Care at level 2

  5. Skills Pledge Have agreed SHA leading on sign-ups. NHS organisations signed so far: East Midlands Strategic Health Authority East Midlands Ambulance Services NHS Trust Leicestershire County & Rutland PCT United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust Lincolnshire Teaching PCT Northamptonshire Teaching PCT Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Nottinghamshire County Teaching PCT Nottingham City PCT Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust Bassetlaw PCT

Skills Pledge contd • Awaiting Ministerial visit to sign collectively; • Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust • Derby Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust • Derby City PCT • Derbyshire Mental Health Services NHS Trust • Derbyshire County PCT • Signing at Public Sector Skills Challenge event on 30th September • University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust • Leicester City PCT

In place • JIF Partnership Manager started 1st April • JIF Project Assistant started 21st July • JIF Communications and Marketing Manager started on secondment 1st September • Business process for handling training requirements developed with LHC Workforce Leads • Investment plan agreed • Delivery of training started 1st April • Mechanisms for collecting accurate data to record training activity in place
