  1. United States Census Bureau Data in various forms has been used as part of the current update to the Kentucky Statewide Traffic Model (KYSTM). The goal of this poster is to provide an overview of the data used, which includes: • Description of data sources • Summary of review procedure • Explanation of how data was used • Summary of issues encountered The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) contracted with Wilbur Smith Associates (WSA) to develop a statewide automobile and truck forecasting model using the TransCAD software package. The KYSTM supports highway planning and investment decisions, permits a consistent methodology in project evaluations, allows testing of alternative land use strategies, and assists in developing a better understanding of changes occurring in statewide travel demand that may be related to larger national and international economic trends.
