God-Honoring Lament Job 1:20: “Job stood up and tore his robe in grief. Then he shaved his head and fell to the ground before God.”
Heart of Gratitude & Praise Job 1:21: “The Lord gave me everything I had, and the Lord has taken it away. Praise the name of the Lord!”
Trusts God Even in Difficulties Job 2:10: “Should we accept only good things from the hand of God and never anything bad?”
Expresses Anguish Job 3:24-26: “I cannot eat for sighing; my groans pour out like water. What I always feared has happened to me. What I dreaded has come to be. I have no peace, no quietness. I have no rest; instead, only trouble comes.”
Questions God Job 7:19-20: “God, why won’t you leave me alone—even for a moment? Have I sinned? What have I done to you, O watcher of all humanity? Why have you made me your target?”
Grieves Without Sin Job 1:22: “In all of this, Job did not sin by blaming God.” In Job 42:7 God says to Job’s Friends: “I am angry with you, because you have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has. ..my servant Job will pray for you, and I will accept his prayer and not deal with you according to your folly. You have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has.”
Heavenward Hope Job 19:25, 27: “I know my Redeemer lives and that in the end He will stand upon the earth. I myself will see Him…How my heart yearns within me!”
