  1. There Is A Lot More To Stage Equipment Than Just The Curtains If you visit the theatre very often because you enjoy plays and other performances, you probably still never consider all of the equipment that is necessary for producing a play. You see the front of house stage curtains and you may see backdrops being lowered or raised, or there may be a fixed backdrop with scenery painted on it, depending on the content being performed. It probably never enters your head to consider all the stage equipment that makes it happen. Just for the curtains alone, there will be curtain tracks, and if they are being pulled by hand – walkalong – they will be operated by heavy theatre ropes. The tracks have to be strong enough to hold a considerable weight, and they have to be installed by people who are trained to work at height. Of course, theatre curtains may be operated mechanically, and this means that the tracks have to be motorised in order to perform their function. This does away with the theatre ropes, of course.

  2. Then there are all the other stage curtains that have to be mounted, such as legs, tormentors, borders, cycloramas, flybars, backdrops, and more, some of which may be raised up into the fly loft, which involves a whole lot more theatre equipment. Then, of course, there is all the lighting. There are things such as internally wired lighting bars which may have four sockets or as many as sixteen sockets, and these alone can cost from around £300 up to £1250 for those with a lot of sockets. There are also lots of other pieces of equipment concerning the lighting, and it all has to be supplied and professionally installed. Cameo Curtains is a leading manufacturer of stage and theatre curtains and has supplied them to theatres, cinemas, schools, colleges, universities, conference centres, village halls, and more, the length and breadth of the country. The company not only manufactures the curtains but supplies all the necessary equipment to go with them and has a team of professional installers to install everything.
