  1. Matthew 7:13-14 • "Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. • For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.

  2. The Road Less Traveled

  3. The Road Not Taken Robert Frost Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,And sorry I could not travel bothAnd be one traveler, long I stoodAnd looked down one as far as I couldTo where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair,And having perhaps the better claimBecause it was grassy and wanted wear,Though as for that the passing thereHad worn them really about the same,And both that morning equally layIn leaves no step had trodden black.Oh, I marked the first for another day!Yet knowing how way leads on to wayI doubted if I should ever come back.I shall be telling this with a sighSomewhere ages and ages hence:Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,I took the one less traveled by,And that has made all the difference.

  4. The Way That Leads To Life

  5. Changes Character • A Selfless Spirit 5:3 • Sorrow For Your Wrongs 5:4 • A Gentle Disposition 5:5 • Champion Of Fairness 5:6 • Lenient In Judgment 5:7 • Produces Purity 5:8 • Be The Appeaser 5:9 • Do Right 5:10 • Endures When Done Wrong 5:11 • Bless when others revile you 5:12

  6. Glorifies God (5:13-16) • "You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet. "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. • In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

  7. Imitates God (5:43-48) • "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.‘ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? • You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

  8. Forgives Debts (6:12-15) • and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

  9. Judges Righteously (7:1-5) • “Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.

  10. Enters The Way (7:12-14) • "So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets. • "Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.

  11. Hears and Does (7:24-28) • "Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. • And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.“

  12. Two Roads Diverged Into One • And I took the road less traveled and that has made all the difference. • For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few (Matt. 7:13).
