The Moon and Earth (pg. 40). Moon- any natural body that revolves around a planet. - The moon revolves around the Earth. The Moon Continued…. Crater- a low, bowl-shaped area on the surface of the moon. Many are millions, if not billions of years old because there is no erosion on the moon.

  1. The Moon and Earth (pg. 40) • Moon- any natural body that revolves around a planet. - The moon revolves around the Earth

  2. The Moon Continued… • Crater- a low, bowl-shaped area on the surface of the moon. • Many are millions, if not billions of years old because there is no erosion on the moon.

  3. The Moon Continued… • Similarities between the moon and Earth: • Both are rocky and fairly dense (thick / hard) • Both have many of the same elements like aluminum, iron, and oxygen. • Both have craters!

  4. The Moon Continued… • Differences between the moon and Earth: • Moon is only about 1/4th the size of the Earth. • Moon’s pull of gravity is about 1/6th that of Earth. (180lb person would weigh 30lbs.) • Moon has almost no atmosphere and no liquid water. • Moon has temperatures from 212 degrees F to –247 degrees F at night. • Moon has more craters.
