The Society of Professional Journalists works to improve and protect journalism. The organization is the nation’s most broad-based journalism organization, dedicated to encouraging the free practice of journalism and stimulating high standards of ethical behavior.
Become a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America. Gain knowledge of the public relations field, develop leadership skills and be exposed to professionals.
Kappa Tau Alpha is a college honor society recognizing academic excellence and promoting scholarship in journalism and mass communication.
Membership must be earned by excellence in academic work at one of the colleges and universities that have chapters.
The Communication Studies Student Association is an official NCA student club. Student-led, this organization creates, plans and implements both social and professional events designed to promote out of class learning, networking and other communication-related business skills.

Communication professors Chad Cogdilland John Fitch III won the Best Short Film Award at the 2008 Cinefest Movie Expo and Festival (Louisville) for “The Library”, a short film about a young man who lets his dreams come alive in a college library, produced at EKU in the summer of 2008.
