  1. Machine backup, recovery and mobility

  2. Agenda • Cristie Software Introduction • Product Introductions • TBMR Presentation • Recovery Simulator Presentation • Demo • CloneManager Presentation • Q&A

  3. What is BMR? Bare Machine Recovery (BMR) – Provides recovery of operating system and application, data in case of a server outage Most backup applications don’t provide this capability, if so, slow, time consuming process Manual processes can take hours and even days for system recovery A key disaster recovery and migration tool

  4. Cristie software • Established 2008, spin off of Cristie Group • Leading software provider in data protection, machine recovery, migration and availability • Resold by IBM world-wide and IBM Global Services • Over 100 of the Global Fortune 500companies use Cristie

  5. Cristie BMR solutions Automatic or semi-automatic recovery of an entire machine including the operating system, configuration and applications Unique recovery directly from backups Testing/Simulation facility of BMR process

  6. BMR product suite Cristie’s software is unique in that it recovers machines directly from their native backups: CBMR (Cristie Bare Machine Recovery) TBMR (Bare Machine Recovery for TSM) NBMR (NetWorker Bare Machine Recovery) ABMR (Avamar Bare Machine Recovery) SBMR (Simpana Bare Machine Recovery) Recovery Simulator add-on (TBMR, ABMR & NBMR) All BMR products support Windows, Linux, AIX and Solaris. CBMR and TBMR also support HP-UX.

  7. TBMR Bare Machine Recovery for TSM

  8. TBMR- Bare Machine Recovery for TSM BMR is not built into TSM Integrates seamlessly with TSM Recovers directly from TSM backups, no additional backup required TBMR offers one common recovery infrastructure and management. No need to deploy multiple OS specific recovery tools TBMR is the ONLY software that can recover direct from the TSM server without performing a separate backup

  9. TBMR Features TBMR recovers: • OS and Application data in under 10 minutes • To dissimilar hardware and P2P, P2V, V2P and V2V • Provides an exactly identical machine • Fully automated if required • From both TSM incremental and image backups • To any point in time that is available in TSM TBMR supports: • Windows, Linux, AIX and Solaris machines • All TSM server and BA clients versions currently supported by IBM

  10. TBMR IN Operation OS Apps TSM TSM BACKUP OS Apps Data TSM agent Server TBMR agent Server Data

  11. Value proposition • Improves recovery times and points • Servers restored in minutes versus hours • Multiple servers can be restored simultaneously • Can restore to any point in time that is available • Ensures reliability of the recovery process • Simplifies and automates the recovery process • Reduces the number of HA/clustering environments • No additional product knowledge required – reducing training • Can be used to create machine clones for testing or migration • Reduces storage and system requirements • Saves storage and network bandwidth – no additional backup • No separate backup software to install, schedule and manage

  12. Questions on tbmr? ?

  13. Recovery Simulator

  14. Recovery simulator Disaster Recovery Testing • An easy-to-use and automated solution • Tests whether a machine can be successfully recovered from TSM backups • Automatically creates a VM to test the recovery process • Success and failure reporting automatically emailed to designated personnel (backup team, compliance/auditors, management) • Confirms that your system backups will recover reliably • Can be carried out on multiple servers • Usage is token-based

  15. How to Purchase • Trials of our products can be downloaded at www.cristie.com • TBMR can be purchased through IBM, IBM resellers or direct from Cristie • Other BMR solutions, Recovery Simulator and CloneManager can be purchased direct from Cristie or through limited partners • BMR is priced based on servers protected • CloneManager and Recovery Simulator are token based • Please contact me for information on purchasing any of our solutions: don.becker@cristie.com, 512-577-4110
