A Unique Educational Partnership • The College of Pharmacy for four universities: • The University of Akron • Kent State University • Youngstown State University • Cleveland State University • Partnering with existing hospitals and health care providers throughout northeastern Ohio • Non-duplicative; only College of Pharmacy in the eastern half of the state
Training Ohio’s Health Care Professionals • Interdisciplinary training: A national priority. • Professionals are trained in isolation, then expected to work as a team. • Goal: Improved patient outcomes and reduction in medical errors.
Expanded Role of the Pharmacist • Pharmacists more actively involved in direct patient care. • As population ages, the demand for well-trained pharmacists increases.
