Great Depression • The Great Depression started on Tuesday, October 29, 1929. • It caused a great downfall in business. • The Great Depression ended in different times in the 1930’s for different countries. • It slowly ended in in the early 1930’s for the Americans, which got away from the Great Depression because of the war.

  3. Opening of the Suez Canal • The Suez Canal was in November 17, 1969. • It was designed by Ferdinand De Lesseps. • It became one of the most used route in the world at one point. • It saved days at sea and ship wrecks at the southern point of Africa.

  4. World War I • World War 1 was the first national war and it was one of the most deadliest. • Many countries lost many warriors. • The World War 1 helped America release itself from the Great Depression. • Singapore was won by the Japanese.

  5. The Industrial Revolution • In the Industrial Revolution, new machinery was brought to Singapore. • One of the new machines that came was the spinning jenny, replaced the old-fashioned way of making cloth using hand looms. • This period was from the 18th century to the 19th century. • It changed peoples lives greatly. Trains and steamships were invented in this period also.

  6. Singing Of The 1918 Treaty • The day Raffles claimed Singapore • The Day Europe too over Singapore and increased to some trade. • The British wanted to set up a trading port here. • That is why the took it.

  7. Raffle’s Landing • On the 19th of January Raffles found Singapore • Singed the treaty in that year. • And Raffle’s got his glory.

  9. Opening of The Chinese Ports • These ports were opened Canton, Amoy, Foochow, Ningpo and Shanghai. • Britain got richer. $ • Increased trades dramatically.
