Shaft strained by bending can be constructed as rotary or stationary. Shaft diameter is designed or checked in both cases. Shaft strained by bending stress and pressure in places of fitting other components. These shafts are grouped under bearing shaft group. There are divided into shafts with permanent diameter or permanent rigidity. These shafts do not transmit torsion moment and that is why we do not check them for the torsion stress. BEARING SHAFTS
Permanent diameter shaft It has the same diameter through the whole length therefore the highest bending force have also the highest tensile strength. Bearing shafts
Constantstrength shaft - calculation Strength condition for bending: Section modulus in bending Maximum bending moment Strength condition for pressure marking under the wheel: Bearing shafts
Constant strength shafts It has graded diameter on the length. It enables to design such a shape where the tension is the same through the shaft length. Bearing shafts
Constantstrength shaft – calculation Shaft diameter at the place of maximal bending moment: Shaft diameter at cross section x: Bearing shafts
Constantstrengthshaft - calculation Hardness condition for pressure marking under the wheel: Bearing shafts
