Positively charged ions are called cations; They are formed by the removal of electrons from neutral atoms or molecules. Negatively charged ions are called anions. They are formed by the addition of electrons to neutral atoms or molecules.

  19. 7.- IONS 7.3. ANIONS 7.3.a MONOATOMIC ANIONS M- El NON_METAL-IDE(m-) ION They are named with the name of the non-metal finished in -IDE and the charge in parentheses. In elements with one single oxidation number it is not ussually indicated

ANIONES 7.3.a ANIONES MONOATÓMICOS M- El ION NO_METAL-URO(m-) Se nombran con la palabra ion y el nombre del elemento terminado en -uro seguido del número de carga, con el signo menos, entre paréntesis. En elementos con un único número de oxidación negativo el número de carga no hace falta indicarlo, con lo que coincide con el nombre común.

  21. 7.- IONS 7.3. ANIONS 7.3.b POLYOATOMIC ANIONS M- El n -------- di- tri- tetra- etc... NON_METAL-IDE(m-) ION They are named with the numeral prefix followed by name of the non-metal finished in -IDE and the charge in parentheses.

  22. 7.- IONES 7.3. ANIONES 7.3.b ANIONES POLIOATÓMICOS M- El n -------- di- tri- tetra- etc... ION NON_METAL-URO(m-) • Se sigue el sistema de Ewens-Bassett con un prefijo que nos indique el número de átomos y sufijo –uro. Para el ión Omn- se utiliza la palabra óxido.
