  1. Whoare we? Initiated by persons suffering from retinal diseases, our Association was founded in December of 1998. We associate persons suffering from: retinitis pigmentosa (RP,) Age Macular Degeneration (AMD,) the Stargardt disease and those suffering from genetic diseases, friends and relatives of persons with the visual impairment and other people interested in this problem.

  2. Whatare we doing? • As representatives of persons with the visual impairment, we lobby in governmental institutions and advocate refunding treatment, modern medical products and widely available rehabilitation. • We organise educational events for persons losing eyesight. • We participate in social campaigns during the Retina Week. • We translate scientific publications concerning retinal diseases. • We applied for participation in the European program of genetic research. • With assistance of our volunteers, we run a telephone helpline to support visually impaired persons and their families.

  3. Examples of ouractivities: Organisation of the week of retinal diseases within the world Retina Week. This year we organised 8th eddition. .

  4. An ophthalmological campus where we organised medical examination to diagnose AMD. This year we examined approximately 800 people.

  5. The seminar „Dispel the darkness” on genetic diseases with the participation of well-known experts.

  6. We take part in cultural events, e.g. the annual Race of Independence where our volunteers participated and thus obtained funds for our activity.

  7. Robert Wieczorek, Deputy president of our organisation after the Race of Independence with a well-known sports journalist MaciejKurzajewski.
