  2. Course Description: • This is an academic course that is designed to provide students with the necessary knowledge, skills and ability to meet the challenges of our dynamic and complex society. Students will study how historical and cultural perspectives have influenced personality development, and how they will significantly affect developing lifestyles and habits for each stage of the life cycle. Some of the topics covered include types, forms and functions of the family, factors predicting marriage success, money management, values, goals and decision making, adolescent issues, sexuality, teen pregnancy, teen parenting and birth control.

  3. Course Marks: • Assignments & Class Work: 15% • Attendance, attitude and participation:10% • Tests & Exam: 45% • Projects & Presentations: 25% • Notebook: 5%

  4. Mark Breakdown:

  5. Class Notebooks: • Notebooks are the primary study tool that contains notes, handouts and assignments. It is the student’s responsibility to be organized and catch up on any work missed due to absences.

  6. Student Expectations: • Students are expected to attend all classes, be on time, have a positive attitude, be honest and respectful, and complete quality assignments. Dates for major assignments and tests will be announced well in advance.

  7. Classroom Rules: • The following will not be tolerated in my classroom: • Bullying, homophobic, racist, or any other harmful remarks or actions. • Foul language (If I can’t swear nor can you!) • Laziness – pickup after yourself! • A lack or respect for me or your fellow peers.
