  1. Lions Tech – Getting Your Masters CSCI 333: Lions Cyber club

  2. Course Curriculum • We will discuss • How Lionism can grow to the online realm. • A club that has done exactly this. • How your club can go this way.

  3. What is a Cyber Club? • A Cyber Lions club is a club that meets primarily via the Internet and conducts business online. • It offers a number of benefits, including: • Expedited decision making • Reduced organizational costs (meetings, mailings and dues) • Increased meeting attendance • Greater convenience for members • Maximized flexibility in scheduling • Ability to form truly international clubs – with members from around the world – working together to make a difference

  4. So How Can this Cyber thing help our club? • Create a Branch club • Encourage more online meetings to attract new members or busy members. • Hold cyber friendly meetings • Attach via a chat room or video conference for meetings.

  5. Does it work? • Look up the Skrea Lionet SE Lions Club of Sweden or Colorado Rocky Mountain Cyber Lions Club as examples. • Both clubs hold regular meetings via online chat rooms and web chats. • Very active in their communities with service projects and fundraisers.

  6. Who are potential members? • Friends on your Facebook and Social media that may be interested in service projects, but don’t have time for traveling to meetings. • Parents of Young children (they may not have a babysitter for their children during meetings) • Local College students (due to classes during the week they may be out of town and in town on weekends. Or Students that are in town for college • High school students (Cyber Leo clubs)

  7. How can we meet? • Via Yahoo! Private chat room • Via Talkshoe chat room/phone conference • Google hangout chat rooms. • Skype chat

  8. What are the requirements? • The requirements for a Cyber Club are the same as a “brick and mortar” Lions club • 20 or more charter members • A sponsoring club, district cabinet or district committee, region or zone • The district governor's approval • Completed charter application • Appropriate charter fees

  9. In Conclusion • Rather than use the excuse that people these days just want to sit on their computers, embrace it! • Help start a Cyber Club • Start a Cyber branch within your club

  10. ThankYou Lions!
