Poetry Presentation. By: Cecilia. Ebb by Edna St. Vincent Millay. I know what my heart is like       Since your love died: It is like a hollow ledge Holding a little pool       Left there by the tide,       A little tepid pool, Drying inward from the edge.

  6. MEANING OF THE POEM To understand the meaning of the poem “Ebb” by Edna St. Vincent Millay, you first need to know the what the definition of ebb is. An ebb is a decline or decay or a flowing backward or away such as of a tide as the water returns to the sea. This poem is obviously is about the loss of a love. She is comparing her heart to a hollow ledge that is not moving forward but backward and is drying inward from the edge. Her heart is like an ebb because she is no longer moving forward in life; just decaying. This loss of a love has caused her to become hollow and dry within her.

  7. MEANING OF THE LYRICS The meaning of the song “If it Means Alot to You by A Day to Remember is basically about a typical relationship. There are three different parts to this song. In the beginning the guy is leaving and they both are in love with each other and explain there feelings to each other; “I just feel complete when you’re by my side”. Then in the middle of the song the distance between them starts to come into play; though the boy still thinks it would be worth it to stay together. By the end of the song, they have broken up with each other and boy can’t comprehend just being friends with her. He is heartbroken.

  8. SIMILAR THEME THE LOSS OF A LOVE. A BREAKUP. HEARTACHE.
