  3. Introduction • This is an introductory course to Agricultural Extension. The course introduces students to the meaning of Extension, its importance, problems and traces its history in Nigeria. The course will also expose students to the structure of the different types of Extension system being practiced in the country.

INTRODUCTION CONTD Aim • The aim of the course is to expose students to the rudimentary of the meaning of Extension. • It is to emphasize the basic task of extension teaching. • develop their abilities in the following: • Critical analysis skills • Creative thinking skills • Communication skills • to train them in the usage of the above skills to assist farming population

Learning Objectives The following set objectives must be met at the end of the Course , The students must understand : • the meaning of Agricultural Extension • importance of Agricultural Extension to agricultural Development • Importance of local groups and local leaders in Extension • Be able to relay history of Extension in Nigeria • Identify the different types of Extension Systems practiced thus far • Know the different features of each of the systems
