  1. 1 Peter 2:11-12 11 Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, 12having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.

  2. Realizing the motivation and impact of good works as a Christian

  3. Titus 3:8- 8This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men. • Titus 3:14- 14And let our people also learn to maintain good works, to meet urgent needs, that they may not be unfruitful.

  4. Why do you do what you do as a Christian? • To go to heaven? • To not go to hell? • To be seen of men? • To be seen by God? • To bear fruit? • To lay up treasure in heaven? Why? • To glorify God? • To please God? • Because you owe the Lord? • Because you love the Lord? • Because men hate you? • Because you love men?

  5. Titus 2:11–14 -11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, 12 teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, 13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. • Titus 3:1- 1Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work…

  6. 1 Timothy 6:17–18- 17Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. 18Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, readyto give, willingto share, • 2 Timothy 2:21- 21Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.

  7. Romans 2:6–8- 6 …who “will render to each one according to his deeds”: 7eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing goodseek for glory, honor, and immortality; 8 but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath… • Hebrews 13:16- 16But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. • James 4:17 -17 Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.

  8. Titus 1:15–16- 15To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled. 16 They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work.

  9. 1 Peter 3:13-17 13 And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good? 14 But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.” 15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; 16 having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed. 17 For it is better, if it is the will of God, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.
