  3. Who are we and why are we here? • Title I Program Mission: To have a positive impact on  the attitude, attendance and academic performance of all children whose lives cross paths with ours. *DREAM*STRIVE*ACHIEVE*

  4. Title I Law Requires Your Input! A portion of the Title I funds is set aside for “parents” of LMMS students par·ent (definition) 1. a father or a mother. 2. an ancestor. 3. a protector or guardian.

  8. WHAT GUIDES OUR PLANS?

CLIP ApplicationComprehensive Local Education Agency Improvement Plan • FCSS CLIP Application is on line for you to view • Basically the CLIP is: • The programming/materials from our parent surveys from each of the Title I schools combined into a single document and sent to the GA DOE for approval. • What you need to know • Must be based on survey data • Presentation is in your handouts • MUST be presented at the “May Meeting” (5/20/14)

  10. “Shalls” & “Mays” of Title I Law • Things we shall – MUST – do • Host a meetings & workshops • to explain report cards, CRCT, & CCRPI • for each academic subject • for teachers on how to support home-school connections • for high school and middle transition as well as opportunities for additional community collaboration • that are specifically requested by parents • Maintain a Family Resource Center with materials requested by parents • Communicate available resources to all families in a language that is spoken at home

  11. “Shalls” & “Mays” of Title I Law • Other things we may – CAN – do • Involve parents in the teacher training on working with families • Provide literacy training if no other funds are available (including computer literacy) • Provide transportation, childcare and translation services • Provide training for parents to act as leaders for other parents (FEAT Advisory) • Provide multiple meetings for the same content at various times • Provide in-home meetings/conferences for those who can not attend school meetings/conferences • Follow research based models to guide the parent involvement program (Joyce Epstein, FBI)

How Did We Do in 2013-2014? 250 peopleattended! • Annual Meeting • Replaced Curriculum Night • Included all teachers/staff • Fun Pep Rally atmosphere • Largest attendance to date! • Focus Groups Began • Hispanic Circle Avg. 30/mtg • Common Table • Good attendance in fall • Weaned attendance in spring • TIPS/MIPET Tutoring • Avg 20 people on Saturdays
