  3. Predicting • What’s the title mean? • What is the text about? • Where does it take place? • Who are the characters? • What do you already know about the topic? • How will the story end?

  4. Drawing Pictures • Draw a picture that represents the topic of the reading. • Draw a symbol to identify the main character or theme of the text. • Draw two pictures that compare or contrast the main idea of the text.

  5. Skipping Unknown Words • Make a list of the words you don’t know • Make a list of expressions you don’t know • Try and categorize the words, .e.g., nouns, adjectives, phrases, etc.
