This analysis examines the research funding contributions from medium and smaller-sized medical research charities in the UK, highlighting their substantial role alongside larger government funders. Based on comprehensive data from two studies—covering funding from 11 major charities and 29 members of the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC)—the findings detail a £63.7 million expenditure on 1,496 peer-reviewed awards between April 2004 and March 2005.
