  1. What do you mean by PI and 8.1.2? PI means Performance Indicator 8.1.1 means 8 means class eight, 1 means Competency 1 and last 1 means PI-1

  2. There are five competency and 18 PI in Class Eight

  3. • Ability to paraphrase and summarize a conversation PI- -8.1.1: Identify various strategies to paraphrase PI – 8.1.2 : Identify various strategies to summarize texts PI – 8.1.3 : demonstrate the use of strategies to paraphrase texts PI – 8.1.4 : Demonstrate the use of strategies to write a summary of texts.

  4. • Ability to identify and use cohesive devices in oral / written texts. PI- -8.2.1: Identify various cohesive devices/ connectors in the text. PI – 8.2.2 : Analyze the purpose of various cohesive devices / connectors PI – 8.2.3 : Demonstrate the use of various cohesive devices following their purpose

  5. • Ability to explore basic features in different genres of texts. PI- -8.3.1: Analyze the determining characteristics of different genres of texts PI – 8.3.2 : Compare and contrast the characteristics of different genres of texts. PI – 8.3.3 : Following the characteristics of different genres according to their required purpose SS produce texts.

  6. • Ability to recognize linguistic norms in relation to power relation and hierarchy in a particular cultural context. PI- -8.4.1: Analyze the use of various language features representing the power hierarchy in particular context PI – 8.4.2 : Demonstrate the use of various strategies to neutralize the power hierarchy during conversation in particular context.

  7. • Ability to appreciate the use of stylistics and ornamentation (Image, simile, metaphor, etc) in a literary text. PI – 8.5.1 : Identity various stylistic features in literary texts PI – 8.5.2 : Analyze the purpose of stylistic features used in literary text PI – 8.5.3 : SS express their feelings and opinions about the literary texts. PI – 8.5.4 : Express their feelings about the use of various stylistic features in literary texts. PI – 8.5.5: Using various stylistic features students express their feelings. PI – 8.5.6 : Following literary features ss produce texts
