“MAPPING OUT A PLAN” (Steps) • Academic Map • Area of Study • Plan A or Plan B • Major Code • Insert the Major Requirements and/or Recommended Courses (Catalog) • Select G.E. requirements from Educational Plans (A/B, CSU, IGETC) • Consult with department and obtain chairperson’s signature • (Dept. Chair will make sure that required courses are in submitted for class scheduling each semester; Also consult with other department heads to make sure the g.e. required for degree will be offered.) (Planning/Budgeting) • Counseling Review • Academic Affairs will submit maps to Counseling for review of general education requirements • Website: Each discipline within the Division will add maps to their website. • Examples: Biology Discipline will have a link to the Science Department Home Page as well as the Honors/Transfer Home Page • Students will be able to view their specific educational road-map on the homepage of each division. • Marketing: Maps will be used as a resource for outreach.
Graduation &/or Transfer • For both the Degree and Certificate programs, transcripts from all other colleges attended must be on file in the Admissions office. A 2.0 GPA is required for all Certificates, as well as for graduation. • Completion of at least 12 units of work in residence and attendance at West Los Angeles College during the semester in which the requirements are completed. • During the final semester in which completion of requirements takes place, students should submit a petition in the Admissions office for Associate Degrees, Certificates of Achievement or Skill Certificates. • Always consult a counselor for verification.
