  2. Ciutadella is a city with more than 25000 people, with an important economic activity based upon tourism

  3. INTRODUCTION: Ciutadella is situated on the western coast of the island of Menorca (Balearic Islands, Spain).

  4. Ciutadella is a labyrinth of cultures. It was founded by the Punic and has been ruled by Romans, Arabs, Spanish and even English (during the XVIII century)

  5. Ciutadella is the most agricultural and livestock municipal districtof the island. Many of the farms base their economy in the production of milk, that is the reason why the majority of the farming land is dedicated to pasture

  6. The traditional activities in the city have been shoe-making and imitation jewellery. Nowadays, tourism has become the main industry in Ciutadella

  7. The northern coast is a wild and unfriendly landscape, with cliffs and little vegetation, in contrast with the south coast, more pleasant, surrounded by pine trees and white sandy beaches. asd

  8. Ciutadella has the best beaches in the island

  9. Most of them have “the blue flag” Given by the European Community to the best beaches in the CEE

  10. Along with these, the biggest touristic attraction are the virgin beaches.

  11. There are a large quantity of nautical activities in the port, Calan Bosch and the nearby beaches

  28. We live in a tourist area consequently we receive students whose parents have emigrated to work or are retired people.

  29. Our mother langue is Catalan, so we have to teach two different official languages: Catalan and Spanish. And the new students are sometimes socially excluded or find it difficult to integrate.

  30. PALIC This is a program to face the difficulties that the increment of foreign pupils means.

  31. PALIC OBJECTIVES RECOGNIZING THE IDENTITY, EDUCATION AND SOCIAL HISTORY OF EACH NEW PUPIL ASSUMING THE CHALLENGE OF INTERCULTURAL INTERACTIVITY MODIFY CURRICULUM GUARANTEING THE KNOWLEDGE OF OUR LANGUAGE AND, IF IT IS NECESSARY, TEACHING IT INDIVIDUALLY

MODIFYING THE CONTENT OF SUBJECTS TO REINFORCE LINGUISTIC COMMUNICATION DESIGNING SUITABLE ACTIONS TO ACHIEVE A MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE OF THE TWO LANGUAGES: CATALAN AND SPANISH CHANGES IN THE LANGUAGE TEACHING METHODOLOGY ESTABLISHING THE MINIMUMS OF EACH EDUCATIONAL STAGE ACCORDING TO THE CONTROL OF THE LANGUAGE

  33. REINFORCING COMMUNICATION WITH FAMILIES EDUCATIONAL COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT TO TAKE IN NEW STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES DEVELOPING FEELINGS OF MEMBERSHIP CHECKING RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE STUDENTS AND NEW MATES

  34. INCLUSIVE SCHOOL

  35. ASCE It is a substitute classroom to high-ranking handicapped pupils. They are not able to share any kind of subject with other students.

  36. They basically practice manipulative activities.

  37. INTEGRATION This program works with handicapped students which are able to share part of the contents and follow general subjects, but they need psychological support, or some help with language, or therapeutical pedagogy.

  38. SUPPORT When after the first assessment, we see that some students have difficulties following the same rhythm, we have a group of teachers who help them explaining, working more slowly in order to achieve the minimum contents of each lesson.

  39. ALTER AND PISE Sometimes the difficulties our pupils must face, have their origin in a complicated family situation which has an influence on the development and academic results; it may even include leaving school. In these cases we have two programs: ALTER and PISE. They are based on workshops activities and we can offer them thanks to social services and some private companies.

  42. DIVERSIFICATION This a program for students with just learning difficulties. The contents are adapted to their level and instead of working in subjects, they work in areas of knowledge, so they have less teachers which have more contact with them. At the end of their studies they get the same certificate as the others and they can even continue their education.
