  2. Introduction • The Department of IT, Government of Tamil Nadu has announced its policy on rural BPO, where the department will act as a facilitator between the BPO Industry and interested Educational institutions who would want to partner BPO Units. • This is a part of the Government Initiative to take the BPO Industry to the rural Tamil Nadu. • It is imperative to understand that in several parts of the world and in India the presence of Industrial Units in close proximity with academic institutions has led to growth in the Industry and the local Economy.

  3. Role of ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu • ICTACT will play the role of facilitator in the initial phase – in getting the College and the BPO company to set up the unit. • At the behest of the BPO company, ICTACT can also initiate the recruitment process for the required man- power and train the recruited candidates on the requirements of the BPO Company.

  4. Requirements from the College • Willingness to be a part of a new initiative to enable rural employment in the priced ITES sector. • To give about 2000-2500 sqft of floor space, power & connectivity for hosting BPO activities. • Give the details of the graduates who just passed out of the college and the final year students for the recruitment process.

  5. Benefits to the College • The business arrangement between the BPO company and the college will be on terms conducive to both and shall be negotiated mutually by both parties. • College will benefit by this arrangement as the Industry and Academic interaction will help both the faculty and students in providing exposure and experience both for entrepreneurship and future careers. • Students will benefit by having an opportunity to seek employment in the same campus with a reputed company in the BPO industry.

  6. Path Forward • College to give their Letter of Interest in the prescribed format. • Participate in the negotiation process with the BPO Company • Deliver the agreed space, power and connectivity within the agreed time line. • Assist ICTACT in the recruitment process.
