  2. Target group of the P-class Pupils in the ninth year of their compulsory nine year schooling pupils who have no prospect of successfully completing the regular school leavers´ certificate under the present conditions. Pupils may be in year 8 and below

  3. Task • Teaching pupils with learning deficits • Helping pupils move on into professional life • Providing the least motivated low achieving students with life skills

  4. Aims of the P-class • Stabilisation of personal and personality development • Reducing deficits in the „three Rs“: reading, writing, arithmetic • Working on basic skills (main focus German and Mathematics) • Preparation of a positive attitute to learning and work

  5. Admission to the P-class • voluntary attendance • Parental approval • interviews with pupils, parents and school social workers

  6. Specific features of the concept • Practical days on the job (1 day per week or in weekly blocks) • External partners (e.g. companies, vocational schools) • Cooperation with the federal employment office • Cooperation with the social welfare office

  7. Lessons in practise classes • does not automatically lead to successful completion of school • Provides students with the key basic skills for later employment • is tuned to the pupils` academic level • Focuses on basic knowledge Thus school gives pleasure again!!!

  8. Report of the practise class Zeugnis • End of term report with grades • Annual report with grades with detailed description of all academic and practical achievement

  9. Everyday problems • Re-orientation in the class • Range of the problem backgrounds • Staying power • Absenteeism • Unpunctuality Coordination and communication between teachers, company and social workers • Time limit • etc
