  2. Golf - the only human sport to be played on another world. • Alan Shepard hit 2 golf balls on February 6, 1971 right before they took off from the moon at the end of the Apollo 14 mission.

  3. Major Lunar Surface Features 1. Maria – Basaltic volcanic flows. Made of Lunar Basalt 2. Craters – Impact scars from asteroid/comet 3. Mountains/Highlands – Uplift around edges of craters. Made of Breccia and Anthrosite

  4. Maria • Valleys: Called Maria. * Thought to be filled with water. * Formed by massive basaltic lava flows. * These are the dark spots on the moon’s surface.
