  3. % of Increase and % of Decrease Some % word problems will ask for % of increase of decrease. Use this formula: Increase can be found by subtracting the increase from the original Decrease can be found by subtracting the original from the decrease

  4. Before Joe Jonas was famous he worked for $6 an hour for the first month he was on the job. He was then given a raise to $6.24 an hour. What was the % of his wage increase? $6.24-$6.00 = $ 0.24 $0.24 increase 24 = 6x X = 4 %
