CARICOM ABOUT DEVINFO • DevInfo is a harmonising tool for storage, exchange and dissemination of data on human development. • DevInfo is an integrated desktop and web-enabled tool. • The application is integrated with Microsoft Office for easy presentation of data in tables, graphs and thematic maps.

  5. CARICOM OBJECTIVES The Implementation of DevInfo in the Region seeks to: • Strengthen capacity in the National Statistical Systems to produce and disseminate information that are relevant and timely; • Improve the quality and coverage of information; and • Enable a standardised and routine mechanism for information exchange using DevInfo.

CARICOM STATUS OF IMPLEMENTATION • CARICOM received funding from UNICEF for activities related to the enhancement of DevInfo • CARICOM/CDB/UNICEF meeting on the Implementation of the DevInfo Dissemination Software in the Region in January 2009. The Objectives were: • To share experiences of Member States who are in the process of implementing the use of DevInfo; • To assess the implementation support required by Member States desirous of implementing DevInfo; and • To communicate possible support available from development partners.

Presentations were made by Jamaica, Saint Lucia, Dominica, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados and CARICOM on their adaptations and lessons learnt during the process and by UNICEF on the now released DevInfo version 6.0. Participants also discussed the support required by their country for the commencement of the implementation or the expansion of DevInfo in their country STATUS OF IMPLEMENTATION (cont’d) CARICOM

  9. The OECSSecretariat was trained in DevInfo versions 5.0 and later in 6.0 and is scheduled to launch OECSInfo. Grenada was trained in DevInfo 6.0. CARICOM STATUS OF IMPLEMENTATION (cont’d) • DevInfo presented to Ministries and Government Offices at • Advocacy for Statistics event in Anguilla • Dominica to receive Technical Assistance for their • Web adaptation of the DevInfo. • St. Kitts and Nevis to receive training in DevInfo 6.0 in • November 2009. • St. Vincent and the Grenadines to receive Technical • Assistance towards the launch of their adaptation.

  11. CARICOM STATUS OF IMPLEMENTATION (cont’d) • CARICOMInfo web adaptation launched during Caribbean Statistics week. • GuyD_Info launched on Caribbean Statistics Day.

CARICOM CONSIDERATION OF A REGIONAL TEMPLATE • Analysis of the current DevInfo Adaptations in the CARICOM Region; • Challenges relative to the harmonization of the datasets in the regional adaptation (CARICOMInfo); • A Regional Template for the DevInfo adaptations in the region for the purpose of comparability, standardization and harmonization of the datasets.

  13. CARICOM FUTURE WORK • Regular updating of CARICOMInfo Web adaptation • Continued expansion of DevInfo in Member States and Associate Members. • Creation of a CARICOM Regional Template for DevInfo adaptations.
