  1. Le subjonctifprésent The subjonctifprésentexprimegénéralement un fait souhaité non achevédans le présent. L’emploi du subjonctifprésentemprimantuneémotion, un désir, un ordre, ouune permission.

  2. Okay, so what does this mean? The subjunctive mood is used to express actions or ideas which are subjective or otherwise uncertain: will/wanting, emotion, doubt, possibility, necessity, and judgment. The thing to remember is the subjunctive = subjectivity, unreality.

  3. NOTE: There is no future subjunctive. Even if the action is to happen in the future, the present subjunctive is used. However, there is a past subjunctive. http://french.about.com/od/grammar/ss/subjunctive.htm

  4. Remember: Verbs and expressions which express someone's will, an order, a need, a piece of advice, or a desire require the subjunctive.
