What needs to happen to make them balanced again? • Scenario 1 • Jordan has lots of friends. He spends most of his time getting together with them. They play video games, go to the beach, or watch movies. Jordan has never been very good at sports or school, and he does not try to change that. • Scenario 2 • Tamara has a few close friends and sees them primarily on the weekends. She is busy most weeknights with basketball practice and homework. Geography is her favorite subject. • Scenario 3 • Aaron does not spend much time with friends or family because he has soccer practice on weeknights and baseball games on weekends. His grades, which used to be good, are slipping and his parents are annoyed because he’s not doing his chores.

Health Triangle How do you make goals? • Make them SMART • Specific • What do I hope to accomplish by setting this goal? • What am I going to do? • Measurable • Can I see, count, measure, weigh and/or quantify my anticipated results? • Can I easily determine a point/number of success? • What is the amount or percentage I need to "hit" in order to reach my goal?

Health Triangle How do you make goals? • Make them SMART • Attainable • Thinking optimistically, can this really be achieved with my/our abilities? • Do we have the resources, or potential access to the resources that we need to achieve this goal? • Realistic • Set your goals low enough to be achieved but high enough to be a challenge. • Timely • Is this goal appropriate for me/us right now? • Do we have enough time to establish reasonable timelines, target dates and deadlines?
